Office-Based Anesthesia Considerations for the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon
Office-based anesthesia administration is becoming more complex as people live longer and with more comorbid diseases . The purpose of this book is to guide practitioners along the decision tree as they encounter a wide spectrum of ages, diseases, and conditions and to strengthen the margin of safety of office-based anesthesia administration . It is organized into three sections . The first section provides a review of the principles of anesthesia, including the pharmacology of commonly used office-based anesthetic agents, monitoring of the patient, preoperative evaluation, the airway, local anesthesia, analgesia, and effective use of antibiotics . The major organ systems of the body are reviewed in section two, and the most common comorbid conditions that affect these systems are described in terms of their pathophysiology, diagnosis, management, and anesthesia-related considerations . Section three reviews patient groups that warrant special consideration in the admini- stration of office-based anesthesia, such as geriatric, pediatric, pregnant, and obese patients . Spiral-bound and featuring tabs for quick and easy reference, this important book belongs on the shelf of every dentist who provides anesthesia in the office setting .

A Simplified Approach to Alveolar Bone Reconstruction
Bone flaps activate the epigenetic signal within the gingivoalveolar complex so that augmentation develops in a manner analogous to primordial growth . Soft tissue generally follows suit, and im- plant therapy can commence, creating a functional gingiva-alveolus-implant matrix .
